AC Shadows Introduces Bizarre Attack on Titan Event for Holiday Season
In a surprising crossover event that defies conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Revealed
According to the authorized release, "An unusual encounter draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where rumors of banned practices and fearsome transformations reverberate through the obscurity." The storyline introduces a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a clandestine sect.
The adventure centers on "peculiar experiments and a monstrous enemy" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Changes
The preview showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, probably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Extra Content
Players who successfully complete the mission will acquire an special katana together with several items concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Addition
This patch also adds the game's third no-cost story content, titled "The Mystery." This humorous mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic abilities: Naoe introduces a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Previous Japanese Animation Crossovers
This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime properties. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla subtly included a quest that unmistakably echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
